ADAMS ASCENDING is a third person, story driven adventure game. It‘s set on an island that’s split into three sections of faith, hope, and love. It’s up to you to use the choices available within each section to defeat the guardians; ancient spirits that protect the islands supernatural powers. By facing your fears, you'll have the opportunity to let go of the past to find your future.



Adams Ascending is looking to change the way games are played by introducing purpose driven gameplay. I call this new method of game design, purpose play. It's my desire to see the game industry continue to grow and this is how I want to do it:

  •  No more telling you what to do, but instead showing you. (Visual, music, and sound indicators will play an enormous role for the player on where, how, and what to do.) 

  •  No more mission objectives written on the HUD or level maps on screen. (The player must look for environmental landmarks to determine their goals.) 

  •  No more inventory system to select your weapons, items, or powers. (Inventory selection will be determined by locating specific item placement on the character.) 

  •  No more health bars. Damage will be visually implemented on the game character. (As you take damage, you will bleed, fabric will be torn, body animations will change.) 

  •  No more instant health recovery. Yes, you can recover, but it's a process. (If you're willing to take the risk of damaging your health, you will live with the consequences.) 


ADAMS ASCENDING is an inspiring, soulful exploration for new life and childlike revelation. It's an immersive story driven game. Will you make the decision to take on the world with physical strength or supernatural powers? The choice is yours.

I have been working on Adams Ascending for over 3 years part time. During this time I have balanced an amazing job, family, and a growing company that I am looking to build with Adams Ascending.  I can humbly say that Adams Ascending is about 40% complete. It has been a journey of learning how to build a game, create the different stages, story, tweaking gameplay mechanics, and now moving forward into getting everything polished. I still have to complete a few of the core mechanics and spiritual boss battles, but all stages are in playable form.

Adams Ascending is currently being developed by only myself, Nick DePalo, an indie developer. I am learning everyday and my goal is to complete Adams Ascending to show the world that you can "ascend" into your purpose too, no matter what you think. 


Adams Ascending is currently being planned to release on Steam and the recently announced, Epic Games Store (Windows/Mac) sometime in early 2020. I definitely want to bring the game to other platforms (PS4, XBOX, SWITCH) if there is enough funding. I'm learning the process everyday, but patience will be key in growing to other platforms.
